Upper Deck released its 2008 Goudeyissue on Friday. The set is again done in the design of the 1930s Goudey Gum Co. issues and randomly inserted original 1934 Goudey cars can be found hidden in packs including a Lou Gehrig.

Federal investigators crashed the National Sports Collectors Convention in Rosemont, Ill., on Thursday and Friday, delivering subpoenas to several hobby executives to appear before a grand jury that is hearing evidence about fraud in their industry.

Agents from the FBI and United States Postal Service also questioned other dealers and authenticators at the National, the hobby's largest annual memorabilia show.

The 2008 Upper Deck Series 2 RC of Chicago Cubs right fielder Kosuke Fukudome has garnered moderate secondary market interest since the product went live last week.

The English version, that is.

The distinction is important because, as collectors just now are learning, Upper Deck produced an even rarer version of the card as a way to get the Japanese market excited. The short-printed variation has all of his text and statistical information printed in Japanese.
